Education:  Cornell University, BSEE with Distinction

Marital Status:  Married

Employment:  I am currently employed by Stratus Technologies.

Life Experiences:

I grew up in a small farming town in Upstate New York (Pine Plains).
My maternal grandparents owned a farm.  My mother's family has been in the country for a few hundred years.
My paternal grandparents emigrated from Ireland and England.

I have worked as a farm laborer.
And a mason's helper (at a job site with no electricity).
And as a soda jerk in my father's drug store.
I worked as a musician in college and belonged to Local 132 of the American Federation of Musicians.
And I also supported myself for a while as a dishwasher.

Obviously, things are better now, but I have been at the bottom of the ladder and I still remember.

I played football, wrestled and ran track when I was in High School.  I won the Dutchess County Scholastic League wrestling tournament twice in the 175 lb weight class.

I was employed by Transitron (Wakefield), Systems Engineering Labs (Ft Lauderdale), Incoterm (Wellesley) and Honeywell Information Systems after graduating from Cornell.

I then joined the original technical staff of Stratus Computer when it was founded in 1980.  I was an employee there for about 10 years and watched it grow from 20 people to 2000.  After that, I divided my time 50/50 between software consulting and various musical endeavors for a number of years.  I am currently employed full time in the computer industry.

I have performed in numerous musical events.  From a-cappella folk music with Festival of Light and Song to the Blues Rock band Grand Larceny   In partnership with Margo Granfors under the name Towering Pretzels, I have put out a music CD.

I built a mobile recording studio that used to operate under the name Curbside Recording.

I am a member of the following organizations:

Newton Ward 5 Democratic Committee
American Motorcyclists Association (life member)
Association for Computing Machinery
